Paul is best known for his quirky and individual paintings of farm and domestic animals. With occasional forays into folk dance. Biography: Born in 1959 in Mickleton, Gloucestershire, England, his formative years were spent surrounded by Cotswold countryside, farms and livestock. During his early childhood he would attend agricultural shows with his father, a stock-man who would lead the cattle around the show ring. The characters of the cattle, especially the bulls, are a lasting memory. Hence his passion for painting cows now!His first job as an artist was in 1977 while serving in the British Royal Navy as the artist on the intelligence gathering team.In 1996 Paul started a chimney sweeping business and after 5 years he decided to pursue his dream of fulfilling his life with art full time. He still works as a chimney sweep to keep his hand in and it’s often a source of inspiration as can be seen in some of my paintings that feature crows.A passionate musician, Paul can often be found performing with his Irish accordian or singing a sea shanty in local pubs.Month: July 2013Artist : The Angela Campbell CollectionTitle : 'Melodic Stills'See Christy Moore, Elvis Costello, Van Morrison and many other famous musicians in a quirky collection of Rock Musicians photography, 'Melodic Stills', by Mayo photographer Angela Campbell. She continues to tell stories through her pictures, full of imagination and colour, painted digitally to the point that sometimes the viewer wont believe it was a photograph in the beginning. This is her first solo exhibition in Ireland and the first of these series of Irelanders.Biography:Mimi is a Spanish photographer and a visual artist based between Madrid and Dublin. When she is not shooting social projects, she is shooting fine art. Both are equally important to her and help her express her vision as a photographer and as an artist. She believes that a photograph is an art form, it is not just there to record a moment in time, it is there to tell a story. She loves motion and movement, layers of textures, images and ideas, and blending elements of reality with the fantastical. She loves to mix different techniques and tools, and she can be shooting either with her iphone, her Canon Mark II or with the simplest and oldest compact Nikon camera. Then she brings those images into her digital artist dark room to create a picture painted with the imagination and drawn with a camera. She studied Professional Digital Photography at EFTI in Madrid. She is also an Approved National Tour Guide in Ireland. Month: October 2013 Artist : Colleen FitzpatrickTitle : 'People & places' Exhibiting as part of the Westport Arts Festival 2013, this body of work is based on drawings and photographs from different places that Colleen has travelled to. In these paintings, the focus is on the interaction of people with each other and with their surroundings. The place provides the setting and her aim is to make this setting more of an atmosphere than a particular location. Colleen is very drawn to sketching people and people watching, which coupled with a love of travelling, makes this work personally significant for her.Month: September 2014Artist: Noreen Sadler & Nuala Brett-KingTitle: 'When two 'N's meet'Noreen has been doodling or sketching for as long as she can remember, and is mainly self-taught. Moving from water-colour to oils, pastels and pen and ink to her current medium of choice, acrylics, she has covered a wide range of topics over the years. Her style has not remained the same either. She admits that the finished picture has often taken on a life of its own as the work has progressed, resulting in an abstract version emerging where it wasnt intended!Nuala (a Claremorris native, now living in Kilmeena, Westport), has exhibited in various group exhibitions in Dublin, & she has more recently exhibited with the Greenway Artists in Westport & Newport. In the past two years, Nuala has taken up acrylic painting too. In this medium, she has explored her love of nature and especially the wildflowers of of Mayo, paintings of which are featured in this joint exhibition with Noreen Sadler at the Clew Bay Hotel. The Exhibition 'When Two N's Meet', was opened on 4th. September, by Sheila McHugh of GMIT Galway and Chairperson of the Heinrich Boll Institute, Achill.
