The Great Western Greenway

Escape the bustle of urban life on the Great Western Greenway, the longest off-road walking and cycling trail in Ireland. Meandering along the old Great Western railway line from Westport to Achill Island (42kms), this traffic-free route is ideal for stretching your legs or getting out on a bike for a spin.

Traveling this greenway, you’ll be surrounded by idyllic countryside & amazing views of the mountains and the coastline. And you’ll be able to relax and enjoy those views as there are no steep hills, and the route is well mapped and sign posted.

If your appetite is whetted for more cycling, you can also explore the six looped cycling routes around Achill and Westport (three in each). Bike hire is available on www.clewbayoutdoors.com
