Mayo is home to some of the finest sea angling, coarse fishing and game fishing in the country. Boats can be chartered at Westport Quay for sea angling, every type of fish caught in Irish waters have been caught in Clew Bay. The River Moy in Ballina, is a world class salmon fishing destination, only 40 minutes north of Westport. For coarse fishing entusiasts there are many lakes within driving distance.

Westport 51st International Sea Angling Festival
From June 20^th to 24^th this year, Westport will once again host the celebrated International Sea Angling Festival – in its 51^st year in 2007! Drawing crowds from all over the world every year, the 2007 event will consist of four days of competition with one rest day. On Wednesday June 20^th anglers will fish the waters at the foot of the light-house in Clew Bay, while from Friday 22^nd through Sunday 24^th inclusive boats will travel out into deeper water, where lines will be cast for dog-fish, ray and the many other fish which are to be found in the abundant waters off the coast of Westport.
