The Great Western Greenway

Escape the bustle of urban life on the Great Western Greenway, the longest off-road walking and cycling trail in Ireland. Meandering along the old Newport/Mulranny railway, this 18km traffic-free route is ideal for stretching your legs or getting out on a bike for a spin. By April 2011, it will span from Westport, through Newport, Mulranny and through to Achill Island

Traveling this greenway, you’ll be surrounded by idyllic countryside. And you’ll be able to relax and enjoy the views as there are no steep hills and the route is well mapped and signed.
