Itinerary
Saturday 3rd April
Check into the hotel and after dinner a briefing on the coming days activities will be held.
Sunday 4th April
Start time: 09.30am
Low level walk: Diamond hill, from the National Park in Letterfrack a well defined path takes us uphill to the summit.
Distance: 4 miles, Time: 3 Hours, Height gain: 440 metres.
A 1hr visit to Kylemore Abbey before or after the walk is also possible. (Please note that a 8 Euro charge applies to enter the house and gardens.)
High Level Walk: Northern Bens, A nice Horseshoe walk to start-The hike takes in Ben Bhreac and Binn Bhan and will take between 4-5hours to complete
Total height gain: 650 metres
Monday 5th April
Start time: 10.30am
Low Level Walk: Today’s walk takes us North to Shramore Lodge, where we begin our walk on the Bangor Trail; an old drovers track deep in the Nephin mountain range. Our route merges with the Western Way and takes us back to our starting point. Distance about 8 miles on forest tracks with some boggy wet sections on the Bangor trail.
Time: allow 3 - 4 hours
High Level: Croagh Patrick Mountain. We start at the village of Murrisk and ascend the pilgrim path to the summit. We descend to the first station at 550 metres and then turn southwards and pick up a section of the Western Way in Mayo, that winds itself back to the main road. Time 5 Hours - Height Gain 750 meters on loose screed, back road and old bog tracks.
