Directions from Dublin
Leave Dublin onto the M4 Motorway. When the M6 (towards Athlone & Galway) and the M4 (towards Mullingar & Longford) divurge, take the M4. Continue around Mullingar and Longford on the M4 (becoming the N4 approaching Longford). Follow the N4 bypass around Longford, looking for the N5 turning towards Castlebar & Westport. Continue forward on the N5 going through the towns of Termonbarry, Strokestown, Tulsk, Frenchpark, Ballaghaderreen & around Charlestown on a bypass. Eventually arrive at Castlebar. Follow signs to Westport for approx 10 miles. Follow the directions as per the N5 Castlebar Road arriving into Westport. This route is 155 miles and should take around 3.5 hours (plus rest stops).

 

Directions from Galway
Leave Galway city and follow the N84 to Headford. Keep straight ahead onto the R334 (signposted for Cong & Ballinrobe) but heading for Ballinrobe. Rejoin the N84 at Ballinrobe and follow the signs for Castlebar through the town centre. Once you reach the village of Partry (after Ballinrobe) turn left onto the R330 following the signs to Westport. Continue for 18 miles until you come to Westport (then follow the directions from the Ballinrobe Road R330 section on this page). This route is 49 miles and should take around 1.2 hours.

 

Directions from Sligo
Leaving Sligo by the N4 route until the roundabout at Colloney. At the second roundabout take the 2nd exit signposted for Galway & Westport on the N17. You will pass throught the towns of Tubbercurry, Curry & Charlestown. At Charlestown turn right onto the N5 signposted for Castlebar & Westport. Continue forward onto the N5. Arrive at Castlebar. Follow signs to Westport for approx 10 miles. This route is 66 miles, and should take around 1.5 hours.

From Castlebar N5

As you approach Westport, go straight through the first set of traffic lights, past the Courthouse (on your left hand side). Continue straight ahead, go over the Bridge and go straight up Bridge Street in the right hand lane. Follow the road as it swings right onto Shop Street and right again onto James Street. The Clew Bay Hotel is located on the bottom of this street, on the left side. Please note that the car park entrance is located just before the hotel on the left hand side, just after the Tourist Office.

 

From the Ballinrobe Road (R330)

From the Newport Road (N59)
Come into the town and over the bridge and turn left onto the Mall past the Roman Catholic Church. At the next cross roads, turn right up Bridge Street and keep in the right hand lane. Follow the road as it swings right onto Shop Street and right again onto James Street. The Clew Bay Hotel is located on the bottom of this street, on the left side.
